2006 Lexus GS 300
Hello everyone, new to this forum. I am looking into purchasing a 2006 Lexus GS 300 and wanted to get feedback on the pros and cons of this car. I also wanted to know if they are easy to work on yourself, like changing oil, spark plugs etc, basically simple maintenance.
Appreciate any words of wisdom.

Two Words: DON'T BUY.... I have a 2006 GS AWD 115k miles and would say save your money and by a 2007+ GS350.
The 2006 GS300 was a mutt year and is known for problem with carbon build up and piston ring issues.
Only reason I got this car was it was my in-laws and sold it for cheap...Cheaper to keep in in my case but over the past 2 years of owning I have put along $3000 into the car for maintenance (MAF/O2 Sensors, Exhaust, CV Axle.) Aftermarket Parts are hard to find and expensive.
Buy a GS350 or look elsewhere.

I think there is too much uncertainty with the 300 to warrant the risk. Especially when the 350 is only a little bit more. I had a 300 and didn't do my research on the carbon build up issue prior to buying. Regretted buying it even though the motor had been rebuilt by Lexus and the car was in great condition. Having that uncertainty in the back of my mind forced me to sell and buy a 460. That's not to say there aren't reliable 300s out there but there is definitely a risk if you get a problematic one.
