RE: New Dyno Tune
Hello all,
Anyone familiar with this Dyno Tune (Upgrade)?:
RR Racing Lexus GS350 OBD ECU Upgrade Tune
I'm considering this route with a baseline first, then the RR Racing tune.
Is it worth the effort/cost? Would I loose anything at the far end, MPG?

There's a lot of info in this thread from the 2IS forum: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/cl-...-ecu-tune.html. I believe it's the same tune since IS350 and GS350 both have the 2GR-FSE engine.
RR-Racing products are really popular with the IS-F crowd, and before I got my RR-Racing USRS I read through a couple long threads about the USRS and RR-Racing's tune for the F. In 40+ pages, I did not see one post that was negative or neutral about the company or its products – both the products and the customer service got extremely high praise

pulling back the old thread, yes I did get the RR Racing ecu tune done on my car. did you end up getting it pbxcomm?
just FYI, it is required for you to send your ECU to them for them to flash the ECU at your own additional cost. The shipping you pay at checkout is to cover the cost of the ECU shipped back to you. Turn around time could be a couple of days.
I have not calculated my MPG yet, because I have been gunning my GS. My friend who sat on my car said he felt a difference. I chose to upgrade the max RPM to 7000. You won't see the car hit 7000 RPM when you punch it until you hit 4 gear.. 3rd gear shifts at about 6700-6800 because of how gear box is?
According to RR Racing the dyno shop (Reese Tuning in San Diego County) I went to didn't know what he was doing. For one example, the hood was closed during the dyno test and because of that the intake air temperature is running hotter and with just the fan blowing with hood closed, was not a good enough simulation for normal driving condition. The dyno shop I went to ran a Mustang Dyno, which I was told from RR Racing will not provide an accurate reading because it is up to the operator to enter data input into the machine which could be have the possibility of not being totally reliable. RR Racing base their whp gains on a dyno jet which does not require operator data input.
I would be intrigued to see what you got for a baseline without the tune on a different dyno. The dyno shop I went to for a baseline showed I made 237whp (w/ fsport intake and resonator delete). I will make a thread about the RR Racing ECU tune in a week or 2 after I calculated the MPG for you.
