Lost Key and now the ECU is locked 07 GS450H
Ok so the last couple of days have sucked. Somehow on Friday my key fob on my Lexus 07 GS450H (stock) fell out of my pocket, so I had a lock smith unlock the car. He told me he had the ability to program a key, after 20 mins told me he couldn't do it, but I was with a customer and he left and shut the doors. Well makes it kinda hard to tow if you can get into so hada different guy come out on Saturday, he said no proble I can get it open and cut you a key. He got two keys cut to shut off the alarm system, then reset the ECU. When he tried to add the new master key it said Access Denied. So he told me this is common when someone trys to program a new key and hits the ignition 6 times or so but you have to take it to Lexus to unlock the PCM. Well the car went to lexus today and they told me the ECU is locked and I would need a new one. What..... seriously, I mean I'm not stupid how can you not be able to program an ECU. Anyways anyone have any Ideas of wht can be done without paying them thousand of dollars for a ECU? All help appreciated.

I did a quick Google search and found this YouTube video:
It's an older video, but the technician who performed this work (according to the description) said it works on the new Techstream scan tool. Maybe you can take it to the dealer and call their bluff? I'd also try another dealership to see what they say. Best of luck!

I'm curious too because I have a 'theft damaged' GS450h with no key arriving soon and want to be able to repair and start the car to sniff the CANbus before I dismantle it for an electric conversion.
One approach I thought of was to buy a secondhand ECM with key & locks from a wrecked car of the same type. That's my last resort. For example this might work for your GS350: https://www.ebay.com/itm/08-LEXUS-GS...8AAOSwIJlaKWMT ×
