want to buy an 08-10 gs350 with 85-100k miles. I am confused as to whether they changed the piston rings to fix the oil consumption problems in 2010. Also do you need to run hightest fuel in all the gs's? Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

My 2007 GS350 is now at the low mark of the oil dipstick after its oil change more than 4000kms (2500 miles) ago. I consider that reasonable oil consumption, and my car has 144K miles on it.
And yes, you do need to run 91 octane minimum in the GS350, otherwise it could bog down, ping or knock.

I agree. Poor maintenance leads to slew of other issues and if you want to keep you 3G GSs running like a top you need to invest now (preventative maintenance) or invest later (full blown repairs). I run Pennzoil Gold 5W30 and religiously change my oil every 3500 miles.

I've heard from many mechanics that running synthetic 7-10k intervals will eventually lead to burning oil a lot of times, 3 on regular and 5 on synthetic is what you should do
