Headlight Issue
My driver side headlight goes out while driving. When I turn the lights off and then it comes back on but eventually goes off again after a short time. Changed the bulb because I thought it was that, twice, nope, same thing. Thoughts (and thanks)?!

You may find some refurb OEM ballast from theretrofitsource.com. Most of them are 65 bucks.

Thanks all. Yah I saw a lot on ebay in the 45-60 range each. I'm not looking forward to changing it out. I've watched and seen all the DIY's on changing. Wow they don't make it easy to change the ballast do they. Ugh.

The Lexus dealership recommended a guy who services older Lexus vehicles. (since they don't touch cars over 10yrs old )
Anyway, I spoke with the tech today and he says he can remove the bumper and replace both ballasts for $300 labor.
I would have to order the ballast from a online vendor. I'm going let him replace both ballasts and replace my HIDs while the bumper is off. I will document the process and total out of pocket costs.

I replaced my HID bulbs and ballast with a Morimoto HID D2S kit. The bulbs fit the same as D4S and I just removed the OEM ballast and wired in the Morimoto ballast and put everything in the headlight. Its cheaper than buying all OEM and is a way better lighting system IMO.

I finally got around to changing my drivers side ballast on my 2008 Lexus GS350 AWD. It actually wasn't too bad once you figure out where all the bolts are on top, underneath and the sides. Then the light just comes out with another 3 bolts I think. The tricky part was getting the old ballast (not the unit but the light connector out). As a lot of others have noted the light connector that is attached to the ballast is too big to fit through the openings. Instead of taking everything apart, I first wanted to see if I could backdoor the new one in underneath if you remove the two clips. It did fit so I just snipped the old one and connected everything back together. The light works and stays on. No more on and off etc but there is a slight flicker for a while. It comes and goes. I'm almost positive I got the correct ballast and the bulb is newish but who knows. I tried a couple times and it's still there. The OEM ballast is 85967-24010 and the replacement one is 85967-52020. I sent the guy I bought it from on ebay to make sure that ballast is fine as a replacement. it said it was supposed to be. We will see.
