I have a problem with my rear camera in 2006 Lexus GS. Sometimes everything is okay like it should be, but usually I got this:

What's the problem? Cables? Where are they at?

All the wiring for the trunk lid is in a ribbon cable (circled in figure 1). The easiest thing to do would be to take off the trunk lid liner and check that all the connections are tight, and maybe check the contacts for corrosion. Also, try the search function in this forum – someone has probably had this problem before so the solution is probably already posted in a previous thread.

Can the camera in say an 06 be updated to a camera from an 11 that has the grid on it?

11 camera don't have a grid.

They sell replacement used cameras on ebay. You could try replacing it and see what happens.

Have you done anything to try to fix it? If not, why would you expect it to go away?

I checked the cables, replaced the camera from Mercedes and still the same.
