2008 GS350 engine swap
Hey guys
need some advice and help with links if available.
looking to do a engine swap in a GS350 with another stock motor, how difficult is it? Anyone has a thread with a engine pull?
Ive done engine swap in my supra with a 2jzgte so I'm familiar with pulling engine but never done Lexus GS350.

I'm not too familiar with my GS350's engine layout, but I'd assume it's as involved as all other engine swaps are. There's a lot of wiring (the ECU is right up at the front) to deal with, unless the harness has a quick disconnect somewhere. You'll need some high jack stands or a hoist to disconnect the engine/tranny down below (assuming your pulling just the engine).
I recently pulled the engine out of my Corolla, which is arguably much simpler. My first time pulling an engine, it was relatively simple looking back:

Agreed with Sodium above though - if you have access to those shop manuals, they help you to an extent, though you don't have to follow everything, sometimes it gets confusing.

2jz and our engines are pretty close to each other, but a 2jz swap is cake compared to a GS350 with all the electrical and all the BS thats involved. Im sure its time consuming, but I dont see nothing too difficult if you know how to wrench.

So, i did the exactly same thing you are looking into on a 2007.
I did not pull the engine out of the bottom, I pulled the front clip off, moved the condenser coils out of the way, just enough so the aluminum tubes did not crease. and pulled the engine and transmission out together. It was not to bad at all. I replaced all the hoses to the transmission and the shift rail seal on the transmission when it was out as it was much easier. It went together pretty easily and is working well today. I did the swap about a year ago.
I replaced many of the hoses and other stuff when the engine was out, much easier and took advantage of the circumstances at the time.
It was not really too hard, just disconnect as many wires as possible at the main electrical junction and other miscellaneous wires, take off the AC compressor and keep in the engine compartment and all is good to go.
Good luck...but don't mess with taking out of the bottom...especially if you are doing it at home.
