Hi there, I live in Canada and decided to buy used Lexus Gs350. I've found one with high millage - over 150k (254km) - but with all maintenance done at Lexus, sold privately by a Lexus employee (seems legit, I checked). He's had it for a year and got it as a trade-off from one of his clients. Like I said all the maintenance from new was always done at Lexus dealership. I know 150k is a problem but price is good and car looks fantastic - almost brand new. It's also an ultra-package with all possible options. Is there anything I should be especially worried about? Anything I should look for in maintenance files? Also - it has one minor bumper work with zero claim.
It looks clean, I bought an 06 GS 300 with high mileage only because it had all of its service records performed by Lexus dealerships. The Carfax was clean and the car was like new. I only had to replace the ballast module for the HID lights, and I purchased brand new tires. I only plan to put 5000-6000 miles per year on the car , so high mileage wasn't an issue for me. And these cars can run up to 300,000 miles when property cared for.
Btw, 150,000 miles on a 10yr old vehicle is the average. It's not excessive. It only equates to 15,000 miles per year. And you're also getting the 350 model which has a higher spec engine than my 300. I played hard ball for my GS and got it for $1500-$2000 below retail. I knew the owner had just purchased it at a wholesale price so I low balled him and he accepted the offer.
Thanks, good news about lasting 300k. I only hope no major things hit me this year. What are the most common expensive repairs after 150k for this car?

Fortunately for me there hasn't been any major issues other than the ballast module which only cost $89 ordered from Amazon. Hopefully some of the other members will chime in with their experiences, but in the meantime I suggest searching the forum with a cup of coffee as there are tons of useful information here on your car.
My advice will be:
- Use ValvolineMax Synthetic Blend on your next oil change. (It's for high mileage vehicles like ours)
- Avoid the Lexus dealership for service if possible. (they will cost too much. Find a mechanic or shop you feel comfortable with for those unexpected issues)
- Keep a small budget on hand for the unexpected. ( these cars are built to last, but like all older cars out of warranty you never know)
That's really all I've got. I've been pretty lucky with my GS.
Hello Guys,
This is an old thread but I am trying my luck here.
I have a car listed,2007 Lexus GS 350, with 190k miles. It looks it is been well maintained.
The owner got the transmission replaced with a 10-year warranty ( 9.5 years remaining).
Is this a good deal or the miles are just too high.
What are the common repairs that I Should Look for?
Does this car have the carbon build-up problems like IS250.
I have just had 100K second owner all service history done at Lexus. I have done the rear DEF fluid the brake fluid engine coolant full synthetic oil changes Lexus brand oil filter pcv valve throttle body cleaning, all myself saving a good bit of cash I plan to keep these services at decent intervals and keeping this car going for a long time! Next maybe any suspension issues with this high of mileage?
