Default power loss

Lexus GS300 2005, (3d generation) 250hp model.
The engine is revving high but little power seems to get to the wheels. Accelleration goes slowly and car does not seem to respond to the gas pedal. Kick down only result in high revving (4-5000rpm) but the car moves like it is on 1500rpm.
This does not always happen but seems to happen more often when the components are hot.

Hi, first of all thanks for your reply.
Before that it was acting normal, i was just driving a little "sporty" with a few kick downs but nothing extreme nor high speeds. First i also thought something like limp mode but then it only goes 50-60km/h max, no? I could accellerate to any speed but with what felt like 60hp in stead of 250. Another thing that happened was, with cruise control on set at 90km/h (driving in the mountains) the car was shifting frantically up and down, normally it does not do that. Also when i got home i had a bit of a burned rubber smell from the engine bay.
The last 2 days i have had no troubles, i'm also experimenting a bit. Yesterday i dared some kickdowns without changing the gear box to power mode and all went fine, could something be wrong with the electronics on the gearbox?
thanks
