Default Smartphone GPS and Bluetooth Issue

Hi All,

Happy Saturday! 2007 Lexus GS 350 here.

I have this issue, which probably has no solution, but I thought I would post on here anyway.

When I used Google Maps on my iPhone, the navigation voice used to play over my car's speakers, which was awesome.

I changed my phone to a ZTE Axon 7 mini and now the voice navigation will not play through my car's speakers. I've tried about 1 hour of changing settings here and there but it simply won't work. I've even tried to download 3rd party Bluetooth apps on my phone but to no avail.

Should I just face the fact that my Lexus does not like or is not compatible with my new phone as far as nav voice playing over the speakers is concerned? The Bluetooth functionality for accepting and making voice calls is working though.

Thanks for any input!

P.S. I'm also upset that this car has no aux or usb input!!! I know I can get the vaistech, but just thought I would rant on this one - lol.

Interesting, prior to installing my Vaistech I've never heard my phone audio come through the bluetooth hands free system for non-calls.

I know navigation audio would come through with my calls if I had navigation and a call going at the same time, but never just navi.

It's possible that iPhone handles navigation audio differently than android audio. I've always used my Android phone but it might be worth pairing my work iPhone to see...

My question to you would be when you had iphone navi coming through your car speakers, did it look like you were on a call on the navigation screen?

sorry for the late reply.. no via the iPhone I could even have my GPS screen on in the car.. it was not as if I was on a call...

it's very useful to have the sound coming through the speakers.. I guess it's just an Android issue or something specific with my new phone
