So I have been preparing to buy a Lexus this spring and have two cars in mind. I like the 2004-2006 LS430 and the 2007-2008 GS350. While I know the LS has supreme reliability and is a flagship vehicle for Lexus, I also am considering a GS350. I know the GS350 has better gas mileage, in my opinion a better body style, more pick up as far as accelerating and is still considered to be a reliable car. I’d be able to find one around $8500-9000 and with about 125-130k miles. I don’t know as much about the GS as I do the LS, so I’m looking for any advice on whether to stick with only hunting for an LS, or giving the newer GS350 a shot. Any information on common issues, repairs, reliability etc would be greatly appreciated!

The LS will be far superior in terms of reliability. I not saying the GS is not as reliable as the LS but the engineers when through great steps to makes sure the LS is bulletproof. Fit and Finish is also another key part of the LS. I would pick an LS430 over the GS. The fit and finishes in the GS are ok. Not great compared to the 2nd GS but it's doable. I think the ES350 of the same year had better quality than the GS. I hate to say that but it seems true.
The GS is a bit more sporty than the LS.
The only reason why I have a GS is that it's a good indirect replacement for my Cressida.
