Hey guys,
Over the years you have been all very helpful answering specific questions about this car. Today is a more general question. Is this car still desirable on the resale market? I realize there were very limited number of these made during the production years.
My car is in pristine condition and has always been an Arizona car (no salt;no rain; no snow). I took a new job traveling 4 days a week out of Arizona and am selling the car because I no longer have use for it. It has all the service records; always been hand washed by me; and in general great condition. If it is desirable, where/how is the best place to sell this car? I would like it to go to someone that would appreciate the car. BTW, it still gets 24 MPG!!
Appreciate your input.
I think it’s only desirable to the people who know how rare it is. It’s been a great car and reliable as well so I’m super satisfied. I would think autotrader or craigslist you should have no problem selling it. When I had my 06gs300 that’s how I found mine about 40 miles away. Some people are willing to drive to find one especially if it’s clean and well maintained.
I've seen ads in CL auto ASKING for GS460s of this vintage. I don't think people give them up so fast, they probably go to friends or family. Only little thing is the timing belt...oh well.
Timing belts only came on the 2006-07 GS430 which had the older 4.3L 3UZ-FE. The GS460 which shares the same 4.6L 1UR-FSE engine as the LS460, uses a timing chain.
Ah, jealous you have a silver 460. I tried to find one for so long, but ended up with a smokey granite mica, which I still love, but man.... Such a pain to keep clean.
Like others have said, the only people who truly understand the rarity of the car are other 3GS enthusiasts, otherwise nobody really knows the difference. My fiancee always tries to spot 460's now, but I think in the 4+ years I've had my car, she's only managed to find one, and it was when she was visiting her parents in Houston. If you're looking to sell, maybe post it up in the Club Lexus classifieds, or try your luck on Auto Trader and Craigslist; either way, you can just hold out for the right buyer I remember when I posted my car, somebody on here (I think from Colorado) said they were looking at buying the car since it only had 16k on it, so there are definitely people looking. Best of luck with the sale! She's a beaut.
Desirable enough for me to buy one at copart..got in way over my head, rode the bus for a couple of months while it was at the body shop. but it was worth it
