Spark plug change interval?
#16
I just picked up a 2008 gs 350 3 weeks ago already have a new air filter, changed the oil and plan on doing the plugs I got it from a Toyota dealer with 123,xxx on the clock.i figured it should be broken in now.,lol excellent non smoker 1 car owner.just gotta figure if I can do the plugs or just take it to Toyota.the Supra was so much easier...
edit, just saw a video on it,it should be aasy!

Took me 45 min, and I work slowly and carefully, torque wrench and all. Cleaned the inside of the airbox too.
The prices I was quoted at the dealer (I don't trust anyone else honestly) were crazy. Around $400 or so with parts.
Advance auto is a great place to get plugs, you will get an $18 gift card and you can take 30% off OR they will match rockauto final price. I also had a speedperk and it was under $40 for plugs after all the discounts.
At least you don't have to worry about broken plugs like with some Fords of that era.
Advance is an authorized Denso dealer. There aren't many besides the Lexus dealer. You can be assured you aren't getting fakes.

I have to agree with this. You CAN prolong routine maintenance, but is it really worth it? Personally, I do plugs every 60k, transmission fluid every 50k, air filter every 10-15k (spray with canned air every few months + wipe the air box clean), coolant every 30k, oil every 5k, and diff fluid every 30k. Some say it's unnecessary, but I figure why not? I don't plan on buying a new car anytime soon, so better keep on top of the basics.

dont change LS460 spark plugs until 100k miles interval
I did mine at 65k miles for 2007 LS460 and they all look so good.... probably good for another 50k miles ... dont waste ur time and money !!! I really dont know why Lexus suggested 60k change.

You could say the same about oil too, in most cases it probably has at least another 3k miles, but you change it anyway. My plugs at 90K looked great too. Leaving plugs too long could make them seize too.

[QUOTE=gs350fan;10114562]Lexus told me 120K. I also read 60K. I know if you leave plugs too long it is not good, so maybe 90K?
They were probably changed the 1st time at 60k and aren't due to be changed again until 120k

I changed my plugs . Used the iridium TT
Decided to change the plugs and coil packs. Purchased from RockAuto
Both the Denso OEM FK20HBR11 and the Denso IKBH20TT Look in my eyes completely identical .
Both also iridium
Comparing the OEM coils
Both are Denso. But the new are made in U.S.
The Original toyota are made in Japan. I really hope these made in The U.S. are reliable.
They appear the same
Both sides installed. After plugging everything up. Started up and everything was just as before. No difference. After engine reached normal temp. Idle was 600
I know you all didnt ask about this, just thought id share..
