My Cup Holder Got Jammed Fix
I've seen a bunch of people with this issue in all kinds of different cars. It's actually happened to me before and was a pretty easy fix. This time was different. Have you ever gently tossed your phone onto your bed and it seems to pick up speed, hit the bed, ricochet off and shatter a window? Or something like this:
A piece of chocolate fell in that crack of the cup holder. I was not aware of this. A hot day came along and melted said chocolate. I unknowingly open the cup holder. Bad news bears. It got cold again and hardened the chocolate and I had no clue what was keeping the cup holder from opening. This is how I cleared it out when the other fix did not work.
What I did (sorry about the grimy pictures):
1) Popped out the center piece (super easy) and brought it inside
2) Took out four phillips head screws to detach the cup holder portion for better access
3) Used hot water to melt the chocolate out after clearing the major piece out of the tracks
4) Popped everything back in

(1)(Yellow) Use a a tool to kind of 'hook' and grab the black plastic lip underneath the CD slot and the ashtray and pull that out first.
(2)(Green) Twist off the shift ****.
(3)(Blue) Pry up the wood with your fingers starting on the two 'legs' that extend underneath the armrest (visible when you open the armrest) around the seat temperature dials.
