Default Transmission: GS300 vs IS250

Hello all,
I have a 2006 GS300 that needs a new transmission. I'm not looking forward to paying between 3 - 4 thousands on it because the car is not worth that much.
I have done some research and it seemed to me that the 2006 GS300 transmission is the same one in the IS250 (2007 and newer).

My question is: Does the IS250 transmission fits my GS300? Are they similar? because the IS250 transmission is much cheaper than the GS300.
What would you suggest?

Thanks!!

Are you a rwd or awd? awd gs300 tranmsissions are a lot cheaper and can be had for around $500. rwd are pretty expensive and hard to come by.

The IS250 will not work! The only transmissions that will work are 2006 GS300 rwd and awd are different.

You can use this site to help you search junkyards in your area and or near you. This site also tells you which parts fit what, so for instance if the IS250 transmission were the same the system would list them for sale in your transmission search for a 2006.

Mine is RWD. I only asked about IS250 because their transmissions have the same code as the GS300.
I have been looking at Carsparts.com, I found some options.
I would most likely buy one from there and have it installed in my car.

Thanks for your reply.

What is your transmission doing? From what I know that many of the GS300 transmission the shifter solenoid goes bad in them, many replace just the solenoid.

Have you taken your car to the dealer or a good transmission shop? You might just need to replace the fluids.

It's not shifting higher than 3rd. Also it's not shifting properly when I slow down. I have taken it to two transmission shops, both said I need the transmission replaced. One of them tested out the solenoid and said it's fine. The dealership is a bit far from where I have the car.
The fluid is old, burnt, and stinky as it was prescribed to me.

People have also had luck replacing the ECU. I'm not one for throwing parts at the problem, but for $118 for the repaired ECU and $300 for the flush, its worth a try.

Alnasri, I have the same situation. Did the IS250 transmission work for you?
