Default Aftermarket Backup Camera harness for Non-NAV GS350

I'm have an 08 GS350 without NAV and want a backup camera integrated into my non-nav unit. I found this
for 5th gen toyota/lexus MFD along with this
amazon harness amazon harness
for sale. Has anyone tried to purchase and install this harness unit with either OEM or aftermarket backup cameras? If so, how was the result? Thanks a bunch for the info. Apologies if this is a repeat thread as I searched the forum and couldn't find this exact discussion.

been wanting to do something like this myself. Very hard to find options. I was told by an installer in Brooklyn as he was doing my first set of tint that there is a metra kit for this. I have an 06 GS300 that he says it was good for. Said it cost around 600.00. I only declined because he had some issues installing the tint (lol) didn't really trust him to take the car apart. Please let us know if this works.

Definitely do! I'm pretty interested in the outcome too.

FWIW Drew, your installer is on crack.... It's a few wires and maybe 2-3 hours of your time.....

I'd say a total of maybe 4-5 wires? I've done installs on a few toyotas with the aftermarket camera route. It was the simplest thing on earth.... Don't know why people charge so much.

Default Here goes nothing

I ordered the harness for my 08 gs350 non nav. The compatibility as advertised specifically states compatible with non nav models as well as nav models so we will see. If not I’ll get a refund. Will let you guys know.

And it works!!!! $18 shipped on Amazon for the harness and I went for a nice oem style back up camera for $40 shipped. Under display or info mode you have to enable “navigation display interupt” and when you put in reverse it switches over to your back up camera screen. Harness was very simple to install. Toggle the screen, and wire the power and ground for camera inside the trunk. There is a trailer plug under the carpet that supplies constant 12v power and a smaller unused plug that supplies accessory power. Use the tiny wire to trigger relay to carry the load using tow harness constant 12v. So $57 and I have a back up camera.

Hey thanks for this info, did you buy the factory back up camera as well. And I would like to have mine jailbroke or hacked to were I could leave the back up camera running while in drive. My cousin had this on his trucks backup camera.

no idea how to make it come on other than in reverse.

to install the camera you have to take off the back plastic panel but it’s not too bad.

My GS has factory Mark Levinson and navigation but no static lines which makes it less effective when parking within lines.

Does anyone have any tips on aftermarket cameras with static lines?

The one I linked has back up lines. They don’t curve when you turn, however that type of back up line is only gonna be a factory option. I wonder how the factory camera plugs into the unit if it’s an rca or what? The lines actually are really helpful.

This is great!! Thank you VERY much for confirming it worked for you. Camera was delivered and harness is on its way. Do you mind updating me on how its worked out for you up to this point and also, how did you run your wires from trunk lid to car. I am wondering if I should get some wire tubing/conduit to protect it since the only connection point I see is the the flat wire with harness.
