Default Putting 10w30 engine oil in 5w30

I have 2006 gs300 with almost 200k miles, it takes 5w30 engine oil, here and there it burns a little oil. Should i use 10w30 to slow down the oil burning issue?

It may or may not help your oil usage, but it won't hurt anything to try and see what happens. More than likely your oil burning is due to the common 06 GS problem of carboned up/stuck oil rings on the pistons. 10w30 won't fix that.

It won't mess up anything. They're both 30 at operating temps. But it won't fix your oil burning issue.

Before your oil change pour half a bottle of some seafoam in the oil and drive 500 miles with it before you change that oil.

Seafoam most likely will not work but you could try it.... Maybe try an OCI with Valvoline Maxlife 5W30 full synthetic oil. You could go over to the "Bob is the oil guy" website and post your question over there. Good luck...

My theory is that seafoam in the oil will help wash the under pistons flowing into the oil control rings and to help freeing them up.
