If they had this for the 2006 GS, I would have done the vline instead of the tesla unit.

I hand tighten.
First let me say I have enjoyed watching your videos on the Tesla installation and reading everything you’ve posted about the unit and your experience. I’m curious, as I would really love to add Apple CarPlay to my 2006 GS300 w/ Nav and ML audio - do you know why the VLine upgrade skips 2006 model and starts with 2007? I would think they are same, but Lexus must’ve done some update to the entertainment system the year after the release of the new 06 GS model.

Also - since I imagine you keep an eye out for new options, have you come across any other upgrade options that allow you to keep original
HU?

Thank you! I should have added a disclaimer in the video. I'm getting bombard with messages and someone found my facebook account. I'm just a regular joe that plays with technology. Doesn't matter if it's American tech, Japanese tech, Chinese tech or European tech. I just like to screw around and see what's going on in the aftermarket industry.

With that being said, The 2006 GS (2005 in some markets), uses an older gen system which at the time Grom VLine did not support. 2007 is when Lexus switched over to the newer gen display system. I think Lexus is known for this. They did the same thing for the 2013 Lexus GS, a year prior to the Lexus Enform system. It's stupid of Lexus to not put out the latest and greatest in their redesign vehicle.

I'm actually surprised that VLine is supporting the 2006 GS. I would rip out the android headunit and go with the VLine but my GF, at the time, likes this massive screen so I never did order the VLine system. It's more simplified than trying to troubleshoot random issues with the android headunit.

Great info, and agreed...can’t believe my dad missed out by one year (I just inherited his 06 GS with 27k mikes). I’ve sent VLine an email inquiring if they have a solution for the 2006 GS. Hoping there’s something!

Can anyone tell me where the connector with these wires plugs into? I can't seem to find any matching connectors on the factory harness. And I have no AC controls or data showing up. Everything else seems to be working ok.

This is in a 2006 GS 450h. PX6 from Rhino.
Thanks!

How do you change the canbus baudrate? Is that the same as changing the canbus protocol? I also have a 2008 GS 450h and I have issues with my AC controls not working.

FYI My current canbus protocol settings are GS300 LO - BNR with AC

Driver side bolt does not line up. Was like this with factory HU.

Passenger side lines up.

TPMS module

Bottom rear of the unit. This is from the unit's main harness. Not the car.

You will use all connectors

You will use all connectors

CAN bus module. Came with new HU. One end is a 20-22pin connector, the other end is a 16pin connector. Both connectors are on the telsa HU main harness.

AUX cable.

Backup Camera trigger wire. The red wire is from the aftermarket cam. Connect the red wire to the brown wire labeled BACK. You will find the brown wire on the video harness.

Backup cam video feed. Plug into input label Camera.

Video Input harness

RCA Output for external amp

Top view

Rear, I had to take out the GPS cable to get a good shot. The middle gold connector is the GPS input

I left all the inputs hanging out below the unit so I don't have to take it out again.

Backup Camera installed. Factory location. NATIKA flush mount backup camera

You will use all the connectors on the provided harness. Meaning that there are no connectors left out. Everything will plug in.

I mention that the black connectors go to the bottom connector on the aftermarket unit. It does not. The Black connector goes back into the TPMS module. It does not plug into the back of the unit.

I didn't show a picture of the Can-Bus module. That plugs into a 20-22pin connector on the aftermarket harness into a 16 pin, 1 wire connector also on the aftermarket harness. This will control the bottom rows of physical buttons.

I took a gamble on the backup cam and lost. Correct wiring: Connect the trigger wire to the brown wire label "BACK" and connect the video into a wire label "CAMERA".
I am inquiring about the compatibility of the 11.8" Tesla Style Unit in my 2000 Lexus GS300. I plan on modernizing it to some extent and the original trim around the center console is deteriorating. Also any tips for replacing wood grain trim on doors/ armrest and around the center cupholders? New to Lexus but not Toyota, supporter for life!
