What is the issue with the transmission? Hard shifting? That's what happened to me. I had a hard 2-1 downshift where the transmission would "bang" when coming to a stop.
The way I figured it, if the transmission was going to cost me $4000 to replace, the car was basically useless to me. I would give it a shot removing the ECU. You can remove the ECU yourself. I no very little about Lexus GS but the ECU has an elongated black top metal box in the engine bay near the driver's side headlight. I unplugged the connectors and numerically coded so I could replace the connectors in the same position. The ECU just unbolts for removal and the reverse to reinstall. SIA will repair the ECU if you can tell them exactly what the symptoms are of your transmission. You can also see a pic of the ECU on the SIA site.

Hey all,

While on the subject of the 2007 GS350, I'm about to buy one (132k miles). For me, the 2007 over 2006 is a no brianer. However, does anyone have some experience with cars that have a "Clean Title" but have 1 accident reported on Carfax? I just found out and was kind of unsure . I know for sure Im not messing with front end damage or air bag problems. From my experience, if the airbags have been deployed it's automatically deemed a Salvage title. Is that correct?

At $8k I feel like it's worth the risk but I obviously don't want problems.

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, or advice? Much appreciated!!

Clean title meaning it can still have an accident it just wasnt enough to total the car (over the market value vs cost to repair). I would have someone take a look at the frame and see where the accident location was and have that inspected.

Although I have driven salvaged cars that drove better than clean title cars.

The Carfax report should show where the accident occurred, and they use a rating system for the damages. For instance the 08 I just bought showed "minor" rear end damage, minor being defined as not interfering with the functioning of the vehicle, including trunk and other components. I knew where to look for residual damage, and I knew the accident was minor enough to not cause issues with the title (i.e. rebuilt, salvage).
