Default GS350 vs GS460

I'm a little surprised that Lexus sold the GS with either a V6 or V8 (350/460 models). I have the V6 but reviews suggest the V8 got the same performance but lower MPG. Anyone have the V8? Is it any better than the V6?

thanks

At the time, Lexus competed on the number of cylinders. It was logical for Lexus to follow MB and BMW. The GS460 should be a little over a sec faster than the V6. Now if we're comparing the GS430 to the GS350, they have similar performance. The benefits of the V8 is its silky smooth power and punchy torque. The V8s are pretty much bulletproof since the 430 and the 460 are in the flagship LS. Toyota had 2 decades on the UZ block and about a decade on the UR block (which is also found in the LX570 and GX460).

The V8 especially 3uz is a superior engine to the V6 really.

If Toyota's engine has more than 2 letters it's not good.
3uz-fe- Good
3gr-FSE-NOT GOOD

Id say a good % of these V6 die because people don't clean their radiator, the air filter box doesn't push on the filter hard enough so it allows sand to bypass it, the PCV dumps oil in your intake which junks up the valves and air passages all of which must be dealt with if you don't want a piece of rock chipping off a valve and ruining your block. It's not a bad engine but it won't last without preventative maintenance. The V6 goes to mechanic once and all the gas savings go out the window. A whole whopping 2 liters less for 100km
dad's tundra has the UR from the 460 and uses the same 760 tranny. And he hauls trailers with concrete and stuff. Having that in a GS is the most badass thing ever especially with a nice exhaust.

but I'd get the UZ cuz it's a perfected design from the original Ls. Also lots of aftermarket for it

oh and the V6 burn oil

So who wants to buy my car??

I have an '06 GS 430 and have to say that when I purchased it I was surprised by the torque. 325 ft-lb of torque is not all that impressive by today's standards, but I was surprised to see the torque output being higher than the overall horsepower (300). I've got 104,000 miles on mine and it still runs great
