Got a VSC code went to the dealer and they told me it was a P2004 Code... intake manifold runner control (IMRC) is stuck in the open position on Bank 1
they told me they would have to replace the whole manifold at $1500.00. so I got ahold of a good complete one and replaced it. The light went off for a day and then came right back on. I didn't get a chance to clear the code with my reader because it keeps telling me to turn on the engine without cranking, and will not read...but I can take my OBD reader and read my other cars... Any ideas on my issue, This is the only code..
What car/year/model is this? Is it possible for you to clearly see the end of that shaft, while having someone start the engine? That way you can see if its moving. If it doesnt move your issue maybe wiring or a plug.
After driving it today the code went off and then back on I had it read again and now its pulling a p0505 code.. the vsc light is still on and the car drives and idles great...
Crazy thing is that I have never had one problem with this car till this month, which just so happens to be the month I pay it off... Crazy huh
Look on the bright side the car is still driveable!
Since it is an 06 GS300 did you clean inside your cylinder head ports to remove carbon build up issues? If not you were right there with easy access to your tops of your valves.
I say that because when I googled that P0505 I get this
The idle air control (IAC) valve is carboned up and sticks or has limited control due to the carbon build up. The IAC passages are clogged or restricted with dirt, debris or carbon build up. The engine has a vacuum leak in the intake system after the throttle body that the ECM cannot control with the IAC.
Not sure if you know this or not but the 06 GS300 are prone to trapping carbon, lexus a few years back sent out a letter telling owners to bring their cars in to have their engines rebuilt.
I just had a tuneup and synthetic oil change on my GS 300. The technician also applied the Seafoam treatment to the manifolds. He said the carbon buildup was pretty heavy but it’s all cleaned out now. He congratulated me on how well the car drives and how well kept it is for a high mileage vehicle.
Oh, I almost forgot the topic here
My VSC and check engine light was on last year but disappeared hours after I installed a new fuel cap.
