Default 2006 Lexus GS300 Problems/Issues?

I’m thinking about trading my 2007 RX350 for a 2006 GS300. Are there any major known problems with the 2006 GS300?

Default 2006 GS300 vs 2008 GS350 vs 2008 IS250

So i’ve been looking into trading my 2007 RX350 for either a 2008 IS250, GS350, or a 2006 GS300. Anyone have any suggestions on which one?

The 2006 GS300 has a "direct injection" engine that carbons up so bad that many of them were rebuilt or replaced under warranty. Toyota eventually had to extend the warranty so many of them crapped out. 2006 was the first and last year Toyota used that engine. Some people in this forum have reported no problems. I think the way the car is driven, the quality of the fuel and type of oil used are all factors. I think the NOACK (percentage burn off at high temperature) rating of the oil is especially important. Lacking these histories, a used 2006 GS is a gamble. Even with them I would not want a car with this engine. It is a design flaw and there is no permanent "fix". Toyota changed the design for 2007.

These are just my opinions based on what I learned after buying a 2006 GS300 last November. One owner, all service records, less than 105,000 miles,
8 page report from the mechanic that went over the car, CarFax and a emissions test. It is a beautiful car to look at. I just wish someone had clued me in before I wrote that check.

If you are still in the market, I would really like to get it out of my garage.
