Default Brake noise

Hi all,
My 06 gs300 rwd makes a click/clunk noise when I brake, it only makes the noise going straight forward. I’m 80% sure it’s coming from the front, all my pads are above 65% life. she has 155k miles. Any Ideas? Thanks
ps
I’m new to forum posting.

It normally happens when the pads wear down. Did you install or reused the shim?

Very difficult to pin point, but more likely its not coming from your brakes but more so the front suspension. You may have a worn ball joint either the lower or the upper. Take it to an alignment shop and tell them the issue and see what they tell you, ask them to show you the damage before you go throwing money at the repair.

Not sure, shop installed, I'm thinking of either new pads or shim kit, most likely new pads caus shim kit cost just as much. Cheers

between back of the pad and the pad a little bit of silicone brake lube will prevent them from making noise, sometimes

if you remove the shim it might make the noise go away. cheap brake pads with their shims will make noises.. my first brake job ever I installed TRW pads on my corolla and they are super awesome pads. and they didnt make noise. now on the gs I just reused whatever came with it, took it apart to clean and lube same way i always do, and I still get that "tap" when I press the brakes. Gonna toss the shims theyre probably loose in there and theyre useless anyway

It's probably not that. Try to shake your calipers. Do they move? They're not supposed to. I realized my guide pins were too far gone. And when I move the guide pins there's quite a bit of play and I hear a metal to metal sound, very similar to the one when you step on the brakes

Try ordering a new hardware kit. I did mine this weekend and all my metal to metal noise went away. For some reason, I forgot to install the wear indicator when I replace the pads. Once I install them, all the free play disappear and no more metal to metal noise on rough roads.

Default Brake Noise

I had the exact same issue with my 2006 GS430....I replaced the rotors with OEM one's and it solved the problem.

With your finger. You can pick up small packets of brake lube right up by the register at most auto parts stores.
