2007-11 GS450h vs 2008 GS460 reliability?
I am considering buying a pre-owned GS and noticed the GS 460's are few and far between. Seems like I can find a decent variety of 2007-11 GS450h, most between $9-$13k,, Any difference between those model years? From what I can tell, the last time the battery was changed seems to be the issue?? How long does the hybrid battery last?? Anything to watch out for in my hunt or should I just wait out the GS460?? Wife drives an RX330 and I worked for Lexus Financial for 12 years.. Have owned a few LS but want to have a little fun.. my Lexus mechanic friend says the GS460 is "stupid fast".. that comment started my search!! thanks for any info!

I can't speak for the GS 450h, but the GS 460's are pretty rare so it could take a long time to find a "good" used one. You might consider a 07-11 GS 350 if performance is your main goal. The GS 460 does have more low-midrange torque, but the GS 350s are almost as fast as the GS460 and are a lot easier to find used. Plus, the GS 350 is not plagued with the very costly electronic brake failure issue that is common to the GS 460.

Another vote for GS350, the GS460 (totally different braking system) has issues with the brake system that will eventually fail and cost you 2-4 grand in repairs. Compared to LS460 my 08 GS350 awd leaves the LS in a drag race. So the 350 is no slouch
GS450 same issues with the same braking system as the 460, plus the issue with aging batteries and cvt transmission although that has seemed to be pretty reliable
The good thing with the 350 is there are more on the road than 460 or 450. So finding used parts is a breeze

If you can find a good 460, definitely buy it. The 350 is a great car, but it's just not the same. I test drove two 350's before I got my 460, and they just didn't have the same overall luxurious feel. Drive both before buying, and do be aware of the brake failure issue, but don't let that drive you away, as it's not TOO common.

I wonder if the issue with the brakes is weather related, seems like the cars in hotter climates dont last aslong as cooler once.
