I replaced many pcv valves through the years on Toyota/Lexus Seems they use plastic and dont last over 60 or 120k.

i never check my oil level. wow.

But Mobil 1 is always on sale with rebate, so just one more thing to maintain, but it's cheap enough.

I'm surprised there isn't a service interval like Ford. The body is metal but it is certainly a high wear part. 60K is a good number. By 90K they could be losing function. It is a semi -easy job(I ended up cutting a cheap wrench). Probably the dealer would charge $100-$150.They are threaded in like a spark plug.

As the OP, here's a follow up:

Took the car to the Lexus dealership after 1,300 miles. They did an analysis and determined I lost 1.5 quarts. Expect loss is 1.1 quarts in 600 miles (per the manual). No signs that I'm dripping oil, oil in the lugs, etc. Just a natural burn-off (for whatever that could mean). They wanted to put in a bottle of STP for $27.00 (yes, the same bottle we can pick up at Autozone for 1/4 price).

They couldn't explain why I stated losing oil after they performed the last TSB. Nevertheless, I like the car and decided I'm going to keep it...as a second daily driver. I looked at the LS500 (very nice but styling looks like a larger ES350). I will not buy a German car (I want one in my garage more then the mechanics as I don't lease). I've narrowed down the choice to either a CT6 3.0 TT or possibly go the SUV route with a Lincoln Aviator coming out this summer.

Am I behind in the times - when is it normal for a NEW car (in 2007) to have stated in its manual, it's normal for it to lose one quart of oil every 600 miles.

i change oil every 5000 miles. Going by those numbers, I would be completely burned out by that time.
