I recently had my windshield replaced and now I have the dreaded dash rattle. Can anyone remind me what type of foam or material to use to resolve the noise? Are there known points of contact that I can focus on? Is there a standard process to follow to install the foam? Thanks in advance!
Most of the threads are related to dash clips which would not help my case because the dash was not altered. Noise could be a cowl rattle or foam/felt needed since windshield guy might have thrown away any felt of foam he found on disassembly.removal
Check the cowl first. I wrapped felt tape around all the tabs and clips. It eliminated all my dash rattle. I'll have to pull the foam I stuff between the windshield and the dashboard.

Hey man,
which clips do you mean on the cowl ?
I presume you've taken out the windshield wipers and then had to pull the cowl out so you can wrap the tabs and clips in felt before re-installing it or is there another way ?

Yes, I took out the wipers and pull the cowl out.
There are these clips/tabs/claws that slide underneath the windshield. The oval circle, I snapped off since I thought it was the source of the noise, but nope. There are clips/tabs/claws underneath this which I wrapped with felt tape. Any exposed plastic minus the mesh grille, I cover with felt tape as well because, why not. I already had it out. I wasn't going to do this the 3rd time. The two outer circles, I think I remove the foam piece and wrap it with felt tape.

I think I have the same issue, but I am having a real challenge getting the cowl out of the car. I don't know what I am missing, but for the life of my I cannot get it out. I tried and now I can;t get the LH and RH small support pieces back on.. frustrating.
It's pretty much a jigsaw puzzle. First, you have to remove the wiper arm, second the black engine side cover. 3rd underneath the engine side cover, you have to pull up on the trim that runs alongside the fenders. Finally, pull the cowl towards the front and lift up. Install is in reverse order. Makes sure clips/tabs goes under the windshield.

Thanks for the help. Well I managed to cut the tabs on my windshield per the TSB, and of course it did not fix the issue. My 2006 GS430 is such a great car, the engine and drivetrain are so smooth. But these two rattles drove me mad. I was hoping my dash creaks were coming from the windshield tabs. Now I’m stumped, there is a creaking sound that when the car is warm coming from the left upper dash area.
Ive taken off the speaker grille and it’s still making noise, added felt behind the area where the vin number is, and across parts of the dash. Removed the cluster cover and added felt. Just running out of ideas.
