2006 LEXUS GS300

I have timing cover leak also. 179,000 miles. Car is in excellent shape other than that. Was told it would cost $3000 to repair. I only drive it about 5000 a year. I really don’t want to buy a new car. It drips on the garage floor.

What do you all think of ATP-205?

I’ve used Lucas stop leak and Bars Leak to little avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Soo sorry for the large picture.

Ive had a front leak at what appeared to be the front cover, and when I took it to a mechanic. It was only the seal behind the front crank shaft pulley that was leaking. Cheap seal and about 30 min is all it took.

Make sure you properly diagnose it, and I would avoid running these oil thickner into our engines as it may block oil ports.

absolutely horrible to run anything other than oil in your oil… that’s like taking pain killers for a broken arm instead of fixing the broken arm….

I used ATP-205 on my 2016 Mazda 3 which had a minor oil leak on the timing chain cover. The leak stopped 95%. There is an area where the timing cover is still somewhat dirty if you run your finger but only because I know where the leak was. Dealer wanted $1550. However, there are some reviews on older cars with oil pans that were painted inside where the paint was removed by this ATP-205 and clogged the pick up of the oil pump. Very unlikely to find a painted oil pan on a newer car.

Thanks Would you consider 2006 gs300 an older car or newer? You said newer cars oil pan are not painted?

I see online photos of the oil pan and appears painted. I would not use it to be on the safe side. Or use it for just 100-200 miles and immediately change the oil.

2006 Lexus GS300 oil pan.

hello

If you run your finger over the timing cover, you'll see that it's still a little dirty, but that's just because I know where the leak was. The dealer demanded $1550.
