I bought my 2008 GS-350 AWD from DriveTime on April 24 and it came with a 30 day warranty from SilverRock. I had some minor issues with the car: (1) auto-dimming rearview mirror was faded and nonfunctional (dealer priced that repair at $1,188); (2) the light for the passenger side vanity mirror did not come on (dealer priced replacing the visor at $403.88...but if that does not solve the problem then they will need to remove the headliner to get to the wiring); and (3) the voice commands and nav system has been squirrely. It stopped asking for voice commands when I hit the button on the dash, and later the whole system crashed.




If the Lexus was going to be in the shop for a few days, I would need a ride. SilverRock allows $25.99 per day for a rental, but getting a rental is a pain. So I took my 1974 SuperBeetle Cabriolet over to a mechanic because it would not start. Mechanics got it running in less than 5 minutes! Yay! I will have a car to drive. Then, as I was driving the Lexus home, I pressed the voice command button and, low and behold, I got the friendly, "At the beep, please say a command."

As if things could not get any better, the dealer told me they would comp me a loaner for as long as it takes to make the repairs. Woo hoo! I'll be driving around in a late model Lexus instead of in a 70s era VW (which is hardly better than the 1940s version). A couple other really good things happened today. Life is good.
