Default Any success with cheap chinese parking sensors

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has had success with those cheap chinese parking sensors found on Ebay and Aliexpress? I see numerous other threads but I couldn't find any successful feedback.

I've tried two replacement front sensors (part # 89341-44150 front units) so far from different vendors with zero luck. Both sensors both show that there is a very close object nearby (with nothing present) with a solid red line on the main display. If unplugged I get a sonar system fault on the dash. I can move the faulty sensor to different positions and the fault follows so it was defintely a faulty sensor.

Luckily - I ended up finding a genuine secondhand unit online (ebay Uk) from some chap in Ireland and it wasn't that much more that the cheap chinese knock-offs. Lesson learned - should have searched harder the first time. It was around 20% of the cost of a brand new unit from Lexus locally. The vendor now has 3 left - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS-...D/273891377648

Took nearly two weeks to get my my place down under in Australia but it was worth it. Worked first time I plugged it in just like a brand new unit. All sensors now working correctly. I tested all the front sensors. Ignition on - engine off, gear selector in drive, park brake on. It seems the front side sensors both begin triggering around 500mm and the middle sensors begin triggering around 900mm distance which makes sense. Red line and ,constant tone, appears for an object at around a foot away - 300mm. I've had a faulty front sensor on my LS430 for some time so will now try to source a genuine secondhand unit for cheap.

My new GS front sensor wasn't the correct paint code (1F2 vs 4T1) so I took a gamble and simply painted it (light sand with 400grit first) from an already matched aerosol can I had gotten a while back for some touchup. Luckily the sensor still works properly with the new paint even with the metallic flakes. I simply masked the soft silicone surround o-ring before painting. Perfect match to the other three.

Hope that helps.

I’m curious enough to the point of buying a couple more just to try and see if some actually do work. The front left and right sensors are easily accessible - the middle two not so much.
