2008 GS460 ML Subwoofer Repair
After years of the hot sun beating down on the rear window, even with just 66k miles the foam on the ML subwoofer was toast! Ordered the repair kit from Simply Speakers ($25) and outside of the time it took to get to the subwoofer, the new foam fit perfect! Came with everything needed to make the repair! Couldn't be happier! Now I can really enjoy the ML experience!

Did the same maintenance to my sub this past weekend and it's made huge difference. The foam around my sub was completely rotted and in need of replacement. Ordered the same kit from simply speakers (see link below). The entire job took a few hours as you have to allow for the glue to dry (about an hour). You will need to remove the entire backseat, as well as, remove the bottom bolts that hold the rear seat belts in place, remove the trim panels at the top. Overall, it's not a difficult job, and it beats paying $200 plus for a used sub from ebay. Will probably check the speakers in the doors and see if they need repairs as they also sell a kit for those.

Can you drop in any 10in sub in place of the ML sub? Or is it special?

Unfortunately not! A friend of mine was a mechanic at Lexus for 8 years and he helped, said it was the only way but since he knew exactly what he was doing it really didn't take long.
Bad part was once that was complete and put back together, I could plainly hear the small speaker next to it on the passenger side needs re-glued so we get to do it all over again!!! Oh well...
