2008 GS350 CEL for PO441, PO455
Hey guys, I have researched this as a difficult code to resolve. I replaced purge valve but CEL has not self-cleared. Should the computer self diagnose and run new scans to reset code? I don't have a handheld scanner. Is there a way to manually reset the code without using a handheld?
Thanks

Check the seal on your gas cap, look for cracking or tears. its probably best to replace it as its pretty cheap. The code should clear on its own, but you can unplug the battery terminal for a few min and that should clear it. If it pops back up then you have an issue still.
Also pop off the engine cover and just inspect the vacuum lines
Many auto parts stores will scan your car for free

Check VSC is displayed...
Guys as mentioned earlier, I have CEL with "check VSC" displayed. Codes are P0441 and P0455. I changed purge valve, and also gas cap with non OE cap. Is it true that only Lexus cap should be purchased due to sensitivity and pressurizing? I cannot get the CEL to stay off. Why is CHECK VSC displayed? How do I resolve? Don't want to take to dealer $$$. Thanks

Heres a link from 2013-up GS's. I would check for leaks out of the fuel filler neck, but I would try a new oem gas cap. Should be able to find them cheap on ebay

P0441/P0455 Update
Guys, update on lack of progress
I changed gas cap to OEM Lexus/Toyota and reset code, light back on. I also replaced the PURGE valve, reset code, code back on.
By the way, dash states "CHECK VSC". Why did Lexus decide to display the code CHECK VSC if this is evap related?
Anyway...I watched some videos on Youtube and it seems most probable source of leak is at 2 valves, PURGE and CANISTER. Since I replaced gas cap and purge valve, should I blindly replace canister? It aint cheap at about $460. Dont want to take to shop to pay untold hours of labor...any ideas or best practices to resolve this myself? I dont have a smoke machine...Urgency is VSC is disabled and I am going into slippery weather time of year, plus I am due for emissions test in November and it wont pass with CEL lit.

Pop off the engine cover and just look around and inspect all the hose. Probably something came undone or a crack in one of the line. I would do the same under the car just look around to see if anything is out of place.
Before you keep throwing more money at it take it to the dealer and pay for 1 hours worth of diagnostics. They have more tools to better diagnose the issue.

I had a similiar issue over a year ago to where the tech who replaced my oil and air filter. When he went to replace the airfilter he must have yanked hard on the top cover, popping off a hose that the purge valve uses. That hose was located on the left side of the frame rail ran straight down. The way I found the leak was to remove the hose on the purge valve and blow into the hoses. Eventually I found that loose hose. You can even use a carb cleaner and spray the hoses and if the idle raises, then you have a leak.
