Bilateral puddles makes this a very curious leak. Is it possible that the quarter panels or wheel wells are rusted thru on both sides? This might sound crazy but either climb into the trunk and shut lid, looking for light shining in. A go pro camera placed in multiple places might work too.
Update: I just realized that you've already removed the trim (do you mean the trunk lid gasket?) either way, you're letting in more light or water this way, you'll need to replace that trim before looking elsewhere. You've already committed yourself to that, so do it and once you've eliminated that possibility, see if there's still a problem.
I was going to say remove all the trunk lining hop in the trunk and shut the trunk lid and have someone with a garden hose spray the trunk area. With a flash light look for the leaking or more likely should be able to hear it drip.
Also was the car ever been wrecked in the back? Or had the taillights removed? It could be a trunk seal, tail light seals, etc. I would test
I checked this morning. It's been sat on the driveway since I dried it out but there was a puddle in the amp side. It's got to be leaking in from the trunk lid or lights or something, right?
The rear lights have been tinted by the previous owner so it's possible something's wrong there.
By chance, have you checked if you have any dampness on the rear floor, back seat area? This can be caused by a plugged A/C drain hose. It can work its way back to the trunk.

By 'trim' I just meant the floor trim, side panels and 'ceiling'.
Well then you CAN get into closed trunk to look for light entering or at least your cell phone camera. Be sure to park outside in a sunny area. Good luck if you want to try it.

I haven't noticed but I'll check again today when I get in the trunk. Should the rear lights have some kind of seal on the back? They were tinted by a previous owner and I have a feeling it could be related.
Those three black clips you can see together in the middle of the photo are where the top of the bumper clips into the trunk. The water pours in through the clips. You can see the rusty residue in the metal section below them.
I noticed the bumper was not mounted properly after I bought the car (they did some paintwork and hung it back slightly off). It might be the bumper pulling the clips out of position or it might just be the clips need replacing (if possible).
