My 2011 gs350 sunroof open button no longer works. It had been difficult to get open for a few months when i would hold the button in it would eventually open but it will no longer open at all. The tilt feature works as it should and in the past when i would get the roof to open the close button also worked as it should. Anybody know of anything i can try or I am looking at replacing the sunroof console? If so is this very difficult to do? Also my remote has never been programmed to open the sunroof, if I would have this done might it bypass the problem?

Sounds like you may have burned the sunroof motor to the lack of lubrication. Try this, slide back the cover and with your hand pull the sunroof while at the same time pressing the open sunroof button to help it open. Once open use wd40 to clean/lubricate all the tracks, joints and see if it opens and closes on its on. If it does let the wd40 dry, and then spray white lithium grease spray over make sure to get inside the tracks.
Every 2 years, I buy a full can of lithium and lube many parts of the whole car. Such things like door locks, hinges, hood latches, hood n trunk struts, sunroof, suspension bushings, brake caliper pins, seat tracks, and basically anything that moves, I lube it. Its good practice!

well i tried what you suggested a couple of times but nothing happened, roof wouldn't budge. I had resigned myself to just having a roof that would only tilt when one day while about to pull out of the garage on a rainy day figured i'd give it a try since it was raining pretty hard and of course it opened just like it should. i did then do as you suggested and cleaned and lubed the tracks and whatever i could. Since then it has been working just as it should which has been almost 3 weeks now. Perhaps just pushing on it those couple of times loosened something up? We'll see what happens, thanks for the advice.
