Default 2007 GS350 - How do I disconnect the 3 right bank Injectors?

Hi All,

Have a 2007 GS350 with 121k miles and all of sudden it will only start for 1 second and then dies. Radiator Fan runs full speed, it throws up Check VSC, ((!)), P/S lights, etc. If I try to restart it after the 1st time it doesn't even turn over.

Anyway, I have decided it could possibly be the fuel pressure sensor based on the symptoms. It already had the recall done for this, but I have read others having problems and resolving it by ordering the $30 sensor off of ebay/Amazon (part number 89458-30010) and just replacing it.. I am following this guide....https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...4V647-1275.pdf However, on page 12 of the instructions Step e.) says to "Disconnect the right bank injectors"

This is where I am stuck - I can not figure out how to get them to release. They go into the engine like an "L", so I am not sure if I should pull straight up or pull out. Anyone have any experience? - I can't find any videos or pictures how to disconnect them.

I've attached a capture of the cartoon graphic from the guide above and then took a picture of 2 of the actual 3 connectors - Would appreciate any help possible - I've got this torn apart and am stuck - don't want to damage them by forcing something.

Thanks!

Scott

What you can do is simply remove the fuel system fuse and crank the engine over a few times and that should release the fuel pressure. If not those injector plugs should just unclip if you press the tab down first and gently lift them up. I say gently because injector plugs if there old and brittle and have seen lots of heat can crumple in your hands. So if its avoidable I would avoid removing them. If I were to do the job, I wouldnt do either, once you crack the sensor loose fuel will spray out, just let it empty itself maybe put a rag over it until the pressure is released, should only take 5-10 sec

Also I would avoid buying sensors on ebay or amazon as there are a lot of fake china knockoffs that dont last. I would avoid that headache. Look for a denso brand or oem, check your local auto parts store and dealer. Ebay if the seller is honest, and the wrapper looks proper oem... But nowadays the fakes are getting trickier to spot.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to get them to release. Basically took a pair of needle nose pliers and squeezed the front top side and front back side (on the other side of the wire) together at the same time. Basically, on the right circled connector putting pressure at the top of the black area above the pink "H".

That did it, everything else went relatively smooth. Ended up using the $28 part from Amazon, put the top parts of the engine back together along with everything else and held my breath while pressing the start button. Took a reset cycle (turned off and then back on). But then, it started like a champ and is running great.

So relieved as Lexus wanted $$$ to replace the fuel pressure sensor and the entire fuel rail running through the center of the engine.

Keep us updated if you get any issues with that sensor. Was it difficult to get to that sensor?
