Default Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) retrofit - Gs450h

Hi!

How difficult can it be to retrofit this feature (ACC) on a 2008 Gs450h? If anybody knows the parts that are needed it would be great, planning to purchase them used for a good price.

Thank you!

every time this question has come up with other models, the response is always that it would be extremely expensive to undertake to the point of not really being worth it.

I would avoid the VW money pit fall! Thankfully the parts on my a2 were super rare and after 10 years of owning the car, I was able to recover more then half of what I invested in it. But ya ive had a1 scirocco track car, a2 gli g60 show car

As for the ACC, that option is pretty rare, more likely you will not find the wire harness preinstalled. So you will need the entire system, module, sensor, cruise control lever, complete wiring harness, and etc. Anything can be done! You might be able to find a salvage yard near you that has a GS with ACC to where you yourself can remove each of the parts that are needed. I just quickly looked up the main parts and the radar alone retails for $3,000 but there used on ebay for $200. The module I dont see used and thats $1,000 new. But who is to say once everthing is installed that any of the wiring harness travels through the main ecu, if thats the case then it will get tricky.

Personaly if I had to have that option, I would sell my car and buy another used GS450 with that option. Who knows you may find a car better for less then what you sell yours for.

In France, all 3GSs with the President Package trim level had adaptive cruise control. In fact they had every option available. Hence the fact GSs equipped with ACC are easily available on the used market. This is a shame this isn't the case in NA, I noticed too there is nearly no GS with ACC.

Parts will cost a fortune, but even if you eventually decide to go for it, there will most likely be some kind of programming required to make it work.
