Power Steering Issues & Steering Wheel Lock!
Alright, so I recently purchased a Lexus gs300 2006 AWD, 150k miles from a dealer. We knew it had a shorted rack and the dealer lied and said they'd replace it but they shut down and scammed me. So I had to buy a new rack which I'm getting installed soon. So my gs had NO power steering normally but if I turned the wheel fast twice to the right I had PS for my drives after power cycling, After a few months of using this trick, my rack completely died and now I have NO power steering so I was driving without power steering manhandling for a bit but now after I parked and came back a week later and tried to start my car. The steering wheel is COMPLETELY locked. I can't even get it to the mechanic cause I can't steer the wheels rn. I tried to wiggle it but there's no give and I tried most common things to unlock but nothing is working. Any way I can unlock my steering wheel? My PS light is on also but I bought a new rack for that. I already had it checked by lexus and they quoted me over 3 grand however the part was 700$ and labor for me will be only around 300$ for replacing the rack.

Im betting you may just have a loose fitting plug on the steering rack itself. Disconnect the battery first, Jack up the car crawl under to the steering rack, remove the electrical plugs and clean out the. If it works great return your new rack, there was one member had the same issue and had to resort to zip tieing the plug because it was loose, and that solved his issue.

Dig a small section of gravel place a small plywood or any strong wood underneath slip the jack under the jack point. Once you raise up the car slide jack stands if you have them or a even your a car wheel. That should give you enough room to unplug inspect the elctrical plugs.
