I was driving on the highway today when this happened. My windshield is the original Lexus glass so it’s 15 years old and basically sand blasted already. But this chip is pretty bad. They are coming out tomorrow to “fix” it but I am not overly optimistic. I remember years ago I replaced the windshield on my 1999 GS400 and it was so wavy you could surf on it.
Any recommendations on getting it fixed? If it needs to be replaced, is one of the aftermarket brands better than others (I’m assuming that insurance won’t spring for a Lexus windshield).
I have aftermarket, and its like oem. I dont know the company! But I believe theres only so many windshield manufactures that supply to car makes. I wouldnt worry about putting an aftermarket, a lot better then having them fix that chip and evetually cracking later down the road

Just curious which brand you have. It should be etched somewhere on the glass. I’ve heard PPG is decent as is Pilkington. But I haven’t looked into this for years.

Totally forgot to read the brand of glass. But I have PGW Solargreen
I ended up having the do the windshield repair. I have to say, it looks great. You can still see there was something there but I don’t really notice it anymore.
