Default Potential Coolant Leaks

I have a pretty sensitive nose, and I'm sure I'm picking up on that very distinctive coolant smell on start up (very light) when already warmed up. Just trying to get ahead of it, what would be your first port of call for a guess at what has a pin hole or breach in the coolant system on the '08 GS460's? Need to get on to that coming in to the summer months in case it is actually dribbling a bit. Been caught with that one before after never heeding the 'ol nose warning... Not this time

The cool thing about toyota coolant is that when it leaks, it turns into a foam/hard pink crust. Open your engine bay, with a flash light look around the whole cooling system, start with the radiator especially the top plastic, sometimes that top seal on the plastic goes bad. Reach behind the water pump pulley to see if you can feel any pink crust on the backside of the pulley itself.

When cars come from (very hot climates), radiator matrix behind the dash could be a potential leak, Its a big PITA to do it but, should look there. First before undertaking such big job, inspect all hoses and connections. Then waterpump ,Thermostat and radiator.

It's from Japan so I don't think the climate is too hot there, I've been keeping an eye on it as the weather here is not excessively hot yet. I will just ensure it's topped up and have maybe put in 200ml in maximum so far so if anything I think it would likely be what ibidu1 has said. Good tips on the crusty red, just have to find some time to check it out. Can't be too to bad, it only has 87k on the clock but will get onto it at some point soon coming into summer definitely.

Its very hot climate in Japan. April till October its like over 90F(30C) constantly. When I see a Toyota Crown Athlete from Auctions shipped to Netherlands. All the vacuum lines are brittle and hard as stone. So Japan is Definitely very hot climate.
