Hey guys. I took off my rear bumper yesterday to fix a faulty parking sensor. There are six screws that hold the bumper in place, two in each wheel well and two at the top middle of the back of the bumper. The rest are clips.
I put everything back together and just verified that all screws are attached to the back bumper where they are supposed to be. Yet, I found this clip with the screw still in it laying in the middle of my driveway. It looks exactly like the clip and screw that holds the bumper in place at the top of each wheel well. But again, those clips and screws are still there. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I know the Lexus dealer had my bumper off at some point. Is it possible they broke one of the clips and replaced it and the broken one was just left behind inside the bumper? And by the way. This clip is definitely broken.
When I took mine off, I think I had one of these at the top of the bumper near the headlights. That said, some were missing, some screws weren't the same between sides, so the previous owner may have messed with them and put some at the wrong places.
Thanks guys. It’s also the same clip that holds the rear bumper on each side to the rear quarter. The clip is broken and the screw inside of it is so rusty that there is no way it was in its proper place. I think it must have broken off when the dealer removed the rear bumper and it lodged itself in there and just fell out over the weekend when I took off the bumper. In thinking back, I remember hearing something drop on the ground under the car as I was removing the bumper. I’m thinking that must have been it.
