Default Seafoam spray to clean engine *DIY Picture*

Seafoam sprayed my 06 gs 300 today and the engine is running much better than before. However engine codes popped up hopefully they go away. Here’s where I sent the seafoam spray. Was looking for a proper vent to do it through so I thought I’d upload a picture for anyone in the future who wants to do it.
I just put the see through hose into the seafoam can and slowly let the vacuum suck up the seafoam. If you put too much too fast the car hesitates then turns off. Happened to me once. You have to find that sweet spot where the engine is starting to hesitate but not enough seafoam to where it shuts off. Drove it around after and pumped the white smoke out. Thank you to ibidu1 for all the advice he’s given me. He had a more thorough walkthrough of the seafoam tutorial but I just ended up doing a dumbed down version of his tutorial. Maybe he can post the full tutorial below. Also posted a lil video of the white smoke coming out.

My Steps:

Buy Seafoam liquid not spray (should say motor treatment on it and not intake spray)
Get a hose
Stick one end of hose into intake opening in the picture (or wherever you think will enter the intake efficiently)
Stick other into seafoam can very slowly
Put enough in at one time to make engine sputter but not completely shut off
Turned off car after half liquid from can was gone
Took a 15 min break.
Finished the rest of the can
Revved car to high RPM in parking lot of local park (people looking like wtf cause clouds of smoke)
Then drove it around the city/highway till no more white smoke was coming out the exhaust

I cant say enough good about Techron (from Chevron) - the stuff is amazing. Owned car 9 years now and anytime if get a check engine light it get a bottle of techron and code goes away. These days i put a bottle in about every 10k miles and engine runs great.

Are you running techron in the gas tank or through the intake manifold? If inside the gas tank then the techron will not pass through the intake valves. Our cars are direct injection fuel, meaning the injector spray directly on top of the pistons and through the intake manifold. For preventive maintenance, lexus/toyota offer the service it is called top engine cleaning, basically its similiar to what KH818 did but his seafoam is a lot cheaper and just as good.

Right you are - i have been adding it to the gas tank and while what you say is true it seems to work well. I just turned 150k miles on this 460 and she runs great. I honestly dont think i have ever had a top engine cleaning performed.

The 460 are DI and port injected. Adding to the gas tank will help in this case since the fuel is also going into the intake.

It's only the 3GR-FSE and 4GR-FSE that are only DI.

kH. What codes are showing up? It may be you gummed up an O2 sensor or two or even your catalytic converter. Seafoam can do that

I made a video on doing the seafoam spray for my 2006 GS300.

Yup, I got the CEL, several P030x cylinder misfiring codes, and engine ran rough briefly
and blew out ton of white smoke in exhaust every time I punched on gas. LOL

Once the smoke settled, car ran smooth.

Bought a endoscope to see the before and after view of cylinders,
but this cheap thing only shows on the phone and can't save.

So once I get a better endoscope, I'll do a follow up seafoam
and replace the original spark plugs. I have about 110K miles on them.

They are talking about cleaning inside the engine. I think you are talking about cleaning outside the engine.

I think the codes were from the hose being unplugged ... cleared them and they are all gone

I didnt get the code - just a dash indication - Techron solved it a couple of times and the code went away. The only codes i have ever had other than that were for the MAF. CRC MAF cleaner cured that easily. Still amazed how solid this car is with 150k on it. That said the bulk of the miles - probably 90% - were in 8th gear on the highway. I wish it were possible to interrogate the car computer for that sort of data.
