Default Tire Pressure Reset Button

How do you reset the tire pressure using the reset button under the the driver side dash ?

I've tried to press/hold but it did nothing.

The TPMS button does not reset the "system". If you hold it long enough, it will set the new default value from whatever is in your tires at the moment.

Is it supposed to make a beep or something. Because when I hold the button it doesn't do anything

Nope. It does not make any noise. I don't think it shows up on the MID either.

If you have a check system message, when you hit and hold the button, the check system message should go away, at least for the moment. It may come back after a few seconds If there is a problem with the TPMS system (usually a dead battery).

I think I remember holding the TPMS reset button will make the chime play at the same time the message appears. But the fact nothing happens when holding it is weird.

There's also a button under the glove box to the left that does something for the tires, but it may have something to do with new wheels or sensors...

That's if you have a 2nd set of wheels. It allows the system to switch over to the 2nd set of TPMS without it overwriting the codes for the 1st set.

From what I understand is that the tpms resets itself. For instance if you have a flat tire, then a tire error pops up and after you fill it with air the error light will go away on its own. If it doesnt then more likely you may have a bad sensor/dead battery in the sensor. I recently had that issues, and it turned out that one of my originals sensors battery had exploded inside. I bought 4 new denso brand sensors from rockauto.com, now im waiting to register all 4 sensor serial numbers into the ecu.

I swear this system is unnecessarily complicated. And the convenience it was meant to deliver has turned into headaches for most owners.

It certainly is. Lexus should have taken the initialization button away since a lot of people don't understand what it is for. Most think it's to reset the light...which isn't the case.

It saved my a$$ a few times, especially once on the highway I didnt feel anything and pull right over once the tpms popped up. Huge massive hole in the tire, thankfully the system caught the drop in tire pressure right in time
