Question Blown Gasket - Engine 3UZ

Hello ,

Looking for advices, I own Japanese Crown Majesta (technically same as GS430)
There was problem with radiator cap (imho) and gasket blew and one of the piston/cylinder got damaged+intake valkve.

I have left both engine heads to repair shop and also going to replace the slave of the damaged piston.
Am in Europe so its hard to find piston RINGS for this engine, one option is to order from Amazon/Rockauto but i dont know how reliable those brands are DNJ, EngineTech... And how important is to replace all the rings after such kind of damage (overheat) ?

Thank you in advance

That engine should be replaced. If you insist on repairing yes the rings must be replaced since heat can weaken the rings (no more tension). I would go Lexus parts here aftermarket rings are terrible they last 1/4 as long.

Have you tried looking for a used engine in your country? It's maybe cheaper, as these cars are getting older. Say you order parts for a GS430 and the parts dont fit, then you have to deal with delays. I would pay extra for a used engine then spend time rebuilding this one.

If you are not able to find a 2nd hand engine and have to rebuild it. Have you checked with your local toyota dealer for the parts? If you find the prices to be high, atleast get the part numbers that way you can order from ebay for piston and rings. I would avoid amazon, rockauto is a good scource.

But like I said make sure to get the part numbers from your dealer through you vin/chassis number

I have no other choice, can't find any engine locally, ordering cost me more than price of the car itself ... Agree with rings not worth leaving, additional headache... but OEM s cost way too much...

Yes, there is nothing, can import from Russia, or UAE (japanese engines from halfcuts) but it ll cost me more than my cars' actual price )) and the condition/odometer is not guaranteed + i ll have to replaces all the belts and gaskets in order to be sure in the engine. Thats why I go for repair. I have checked everything on Japanese catalogues (Part Numbers and etc.) + local toyota dealership.

Have found some US origin brands (Hastings for example) that produce engine parts and just wondering if worth, price is 50% cheaper than OEM.

That part is not for GS430, its for 3GR-FSE engine from GS300.

Verify that part number fits your engine. Trust me this is a bargain compared to doing the job twice.
