Angry GS460 Rear Brake Caliper Swap

Hi all,

I was swapping the rear brake calipers out and I think I messed up the bleeding process. I know to use Techstream to stop the ECB and to pull the ABS Relays from the front of the car. I swapped the rear calipers to isF calipers and was planning to do the front after finishing the back. When I drive the car around after its like I can hear the brake line chattering when I hit the brakes(??)
I get the codes C1253 Pump Motor Relay and C1256 Accumulator Low Pressure every time after shortly hitting the brake pedal all the way down
Any ideas anyone?

You really should have searched this in depth before tackling this. The v8 3rd gens have electronic actuated brakes.

here is my thread that I created a few months ago. The bleeding procedure is extremely picky.

So the GS460 rear brakes is different then that of the 350's? Would make sense, as the abs system is totally different. But the front brakes appear to be the same

GS460 has the brake actuator from the LS460. They are known to be problematic. I would take it to the dealer for a proper brae bleed and a proper diagnosis. Then take it from there.

Its close to the design of the LS460, but not the same abs actuator. You are correct in that it is problematic just like the LS.

the actual brakes themselves are the same as a gs350. It’s the method in which fluid is driven to the brakes. Gs460 is electronic. Gs350 is standard.

if you’re not 100% confident in what you’re doing. Just go to the Toyota dealership and have them do it. Maybe $200 and you’ll have new fluid too.

The GS350 you will also need a techstream to open purge the abs module in order to bleed the brakes. What I do, is simply take a turkey baster and siphon from the inside of the brake fluid fill as much as I can and replace with fresh fluid. This method takes about 2-3 times to do until you see the fluid turn clear. As the new fluid mixes with the old. The process only takes a few minutes, and I dump the old fluid in an empty water bottle
