Default GS460 valve cover gasket install

I may come back and edit with more details but guys this isn’t a hard job just very very time consuming. It took about 10 hours like others have stated.

new OEM valve cover gaskets, high pressure fuel pump gaskets, and spark plug tube seals.

The “hardest” part was just slipping the valve covers off and out the engine bay. Super tight fit!

you just need a simple 3/8 ratchet and socket set with a universal joint. A 1/4” ratchet and socket set with universal. 10,12,14mm wrench. 3/4” wrench and 7/8” wrench for fuel pump fittings.

shocking my most import tool was a very thing 90-degree harbor freight pick. I used this to unclip most of the fittings instead of pressing them as hard as possible, risking a breakage.

$180 for all OEM Toyota parts. Good luck!

166,000 miles. Extremely clean!

Moving all wiring out of the way. Absolutely necessary.

Bad fuel pump gasket leaking

Another angle showing them mess these original gaskets were creating.

Brand new gasket installed.

Did you have to remove engine mounts to gain access? 10 hours is a lot of time, thats nuts! What took so long?

Engine mounts weren’t touched. I also called bs on 10 hours from other posts I previously read but it’s true. Granted I’m being very careful to not break any clips or wiring.

Engine plastics, air intake, coils and spark plug tube seals come out first. Then unclipping all other sensors in the valve covers and moving harness out of the way. Next is removing high pressure fuel pump, then all valve cover bolts and carefully slide it out.

Sounds quick but it’s not lol. I would consider myself a more advance garage DIY’er as well.

to put it in perspective I can remove my sentras intake manifold and valve cover in 20 mins lol!
