Default front door windows scratch easily !

hot damn, I removed the tint from the front glass of my 07 gs350, and scrubbed it lightly with a 3m Dobie non-scratch pad
and it left a bunch of scratches on the glass.

dobie pads are designed not to scratch china or wine glasses.

These scratches are so hard to polish out.

Did you guys know this glass scratches easily?

I think some of the scratches are from the original tint installer, but I put some scratches on it too. WTF

Is there a factory coating on the inside of the glass?

3GS 05-2011 GS do not have a coating, the 4GS has a special tint coating.

Its very difficult to polish glass, there are special tools and compounds. But more likely easier to just replace the glass with a used piece.

the glass is UV glass according to the label in the corner of the window. I think that is what the soft coating is.

problem solved. There is no coating.

there was still a clear layer of tint left over after I removed the tint.
tint was 2 ply and i only removed one ply.

the clear layer is what was scratched.

I have to remove this layer.

Ya the 3GS has no coating! I'm glad you figured it out

To get the reminder off easily, I always use a brand new fresh standard razor, get a bottle of water with a little bit of dish soap. I Lay the razor 1/4 the way up from the glass and just glide the razor against the glass. Becareful not to allow the blade to stand up while scraping back and fourth. Spray lots of soap solution and scrape off all the glue residue.

An old or worn out razor will put deep scratches in the glass.
