Default Curb rash touchup on 2016-20 factory 18” rims

I made it years with almost perfect rims, but a blind-spot curb in an area I never drive in knicked the edge of the rear passenger rim yesterday. It’s not terrible, but it is noticeable. Does anyone have any pointers for touching up curb rash on the factory 18” 2016-2020 rims? I was thinking a fine file carefully applied may help.

Edit - I have a dremel kit as well, thinking that may be better with the right attachment.

There is a thread on this forum that explains how someone did a touch up on their factory rim. One person did an excellent job, but the second person posted their results and it did not look so good. I recommend just spending the couple hundred bucks and get it refinished professionally. If you go to a decent place, you won’t even be able to tell it was repaired.

It's not that expensive to fix at the shop. It's like $150-200 bucks per wheel depending on the damage and they come out brand new

I did it myself using dremel sanding wheels + a polishing wheel & compound, and then I painted over it using a very close matching silver paint I had on hand. By no means professional but it looks 50-60% better and is a lot less noticeable unless you look closely. I did leave a few of the deeper gouges because I didn’t want to remove too much material.

Before any work:

If you get all 4 wheels curb rashes fixed perfect, or buy 4 new wheels. It's just a matter of time and a incident that you will curb them again.

When I hear that sound, I am to the place that I won't even look at the wheel curbed till days later. It would keep me wake at night thinking about it.
