Question GS 2016 Rain Sensor

The windshield on my GS has been replaced before I purchased it, the rain sensor wiper only work when I press on the sensor behind the rear view mirror. Has anyone had this happen to anyone else? Is there a fix?

It almost sounds like it's not stuck all the way on the windshield and does not "read" the wet windshield until you press it?

Mine had the same issue when I bought it. I ended up buying a new gel pad that fits in between the sensor and glass from the dealer but never got a chance to install it after I found the a way to stitch on a manual intermittent mode. I forgot how to do that, but the instructions are on here somewhere.

Now the whole sensor and bracket fall off the windshield. Is there a specific adhesive for the bracket? Can you use the same adhesive has the rear-view mirror?

Excellent, much appreciated East....let's see if I can avoid gluing it upside down.

Rain sensor installation update:
I was finally able to attach the rain sensor bracket back on to the wind shield using the rear-view mirror glue. The bracket would not stay glued at first when I placed glue on the top and down edges of the bracket. So, I placed glue on all the edges of the bracket, and that worked. Due to aftermarket windshield the bracket needed to be placed a little lower than the printed outline. It is working so far......

Default Same Issue

UPDATE: I stopped by an Auto Glass store to see if they would do it. They said brackets come assembled with the glass and they didn't have anything for this. They recommended trying 2-part epoxy.

I bought my 2008 GX last year and the Rain Sensor has been dangling the whole time. I bought a new gel pad thinking it was adhesive, and only when I tried to install the gel pad did I see there was a clip release and found the metal bracket was still clenched in the sensor.

I watched a video of a guy using rear view mirror adhesive to mount the bracket. I tried that last night - razor cleaned the window, then cleaned the window and bracket with alcohol, then glued the bracket on per the instructions. I left it to cure over night and I clipped in the sensor this morning, but by lunch it had fallen back off.

Possible reasons the bracket did not attach:
- I am thinking it may have been too hot last night - the adhesive instructions wanted 50-70degF for installation.
- It could also be that I did not hold the bracket tight enough for the 1 minute.
- I was also just using the normal glue and not the heavy duty adhesive. (I used this kit: Link will try this one next time: Link2)
- The bracket is not gluing to the glass, but to a black layer on the glass... Maybe this needs a different adhesive?

Going to give it another go soon!

I never understood the need for rain sensors. My optometrist says my rain sensors are still working, with and without glasses.

But are your eyes' natural link to your brain actually capable of automatically activating your car's windshield wipers when seeing rain without any physical movement?

Maybe Elon Musk's Neuralink computer chip in the brain might have the capacity to do that!

Kinda scary, huh?

I just teleport my brain to where I need to be these days. Remote access saves me from having to travel or even drive to work. LOL

I like it, I think! You'll have to tell me how to engage that Star Trek 'Beam-Me-Up' Transporter feature...
