What Would You Buy???
Hi All,
I am currently looking at two different cars. Both are rear wheel drive, F-sports, red interior, ML audio in good cosmetic condition and partial maintenance records.
One is 2015 with 61,000. Three owners and a minor accident in the right rear. About $25K
Second is 2018 with 42,000. Two owners and no reported accidents. Asking $35,500. This one heated steering wheel also.
I am quite torn and thought i would reach out to the community for some thoughts or ownership impressions.
Thanks so much!!

The 2015 RWD F-Sport will ride significantly different from the 2018 as there are a a few threads (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...6-2020-gs.html) where members have pointed out the key differences.
The 2018 will have more overall standard features/safety tech/infotainment upgrades/etc. and obviously has the refreshed look. Not as aggressively tuned as the '15 but more refined based on everyone's experiences. However, IMHO the older F-Sports have aged well.
I think you should drive both and see which one really speaks to you - nothing like a good 'ol test drive to see if the $10k difference is worth it. Note: Personally, i would buy the accident free car with lower mileage if money is not an issue.

When I went looking in November 202, I found two identical ‘15 F Sports, one with nearly 70K on it with very little ‘history’ and it was on a used car lot. Beautiful condition but the price was too high. Surprisingly the very next day I found the one I bought at a Chevy dealer. It had around 42K. First ‘owner’ was a lessee from Lexus of Beverly Hills. Only one other owner. Beautiful condition. Perfect CarFax etc and the right deal. I love it! It’s a real hot rod too. I’ll turn over 50K on it this weekend. I put more miles on my motorcycles than my car. All I’ve done to it is replace a few missing ‘buttons’ under the hood’s plastic cover pieces. The 8 speed transmission works as good or better than any non DCT car I’ve ever driven. I average 25+ mpg on trips and 21-22 locally. These two are the only Lexus brand cars I’ve ever driven. I would normally want to buy ‘newer’ than older but 10K is quite a difference. The ‘15 is a good car. Good luck!

If those were my only 2 choices I would shy away from the one that was in a previous accident. I would also get the car on a lift to inspect the underside also. Find a good independant mechanic to inspect the car prior to a purchase.

I'd lean more on the 2018 because of no accident. The price seems inline with with others. Though I did take a look on cargurus, and was having trouble finding RWD in VA (just chose 500 miles from Richmond) to compare. Everything around there seems to be AWD. There were some CPO Fsports with less than 30k miles for around $39k, though.

The 2015 will be a bit more "sporty" while the 2018 a bit more refined with more bits.
This has been discussed many times.
Perhaps share how many miles you plan to put on the car? You financing?
I think the newer less mileage choice is generically better as said if the money works for you.

Thanks Everyone
NALOD. I average around 15K miles per year, although that should decrease a bit now that my daughter is getting her license 😳. I will pay cash for the car.
EAST. you are right. RWD inventory around me is very very low. I have driven almost two hours, two times to test drive cars. All three were AWD. A 2015 F sport, 2016 F sport and 2016 non F-sport. The super adjustable seats plus extra sportiness and styling made me decide on the F sport. The two cars i mentioned are far away. Texas and California. So an extra $600-$900 for shipping. My 2015 F-350 XLT work truck came from Texas as well. So nice to not see a spot of rust anywhere.
909. The heated steering wheel is nearly worth the $10000 alone. HAHA.
I have been looking for quite some time now and have seen very few within 200 miles of my location that checked all the boxes. I still have a couple of months before my daughter takes my Altima so I am not in a rush.
Can anyone speak to the reliability or build quality of the years? We recently replaced my wife's 2016 Honda Odyssey, which was totaled when she hit a deer (everyone was fine), with a 2019 and i definitely feel like it is a step down in quality control.
Thanks again all.

I had a 2015 for up to close to 40k I think. No issue. It was a solid car. Just the gas and tires are bad parts. I personally would go with 2018 even I'm favored for pre refresh. 61k may show some potential issues esps with three owners and minor accident.

Just throwing some results from a quick search for RWD with red interior (assuming those are some of your parameters). I didn't look up their vin in the Lexus site to check maintenance records.

Thanks East. The one in Costa Mesa is one I am looking at.
I do I look up the VIN for maintenance records?
