Smoke odour removal
Bought my car recently, has been smoked in previously. Much more noticeable when aircon is on. Have deodorised the carpets/roof/leather but think it’s in the aircon too. Smelling the cabin filter it seems fine - guessing I should replace it anyway to be sure. Taking the car in shortly for an ozone treatment. Has anyone had success with that? Cheers

Not sure how much they're charging you, but you can get your own ozone machine from Amazon for 50 to 60 bucks. Something that will output several thousand milligrams per hour. Don't get the little "car" ones that plug in a cigarette light, get one of the bigger ones, and run an extension cord into the car.
Then you turn it on in the car with full blast recirc, leave it for 5 to 10 mins, then turn on the heat on recirc and leave it running for 5 to 10 mins. Turn off the machine, and let the ozone sit for a bit. Then air out the car (you don't want to breathe too much of the ozone as it is an irritant).
I haven't done it on smoked in cars, but have done it to get rid of musty smells in other cars. It'll leave its own smell which dissipates after a day or two.

Ozone generators are sold as 'air cleaners' or 'air purifiers' because they are really totally inefficient for all except 'airborne' contaminants.
An ozone generator would do practically nothing to remove cigarette/cigar smoke odor or residue in fiber, fabric or leather, etc., or on any surface such a paint, plastic, metal, wood, etc. Those surfaces would have to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with a specialized grade cleaner that fire restoration companies might use. What you will find is that even the metal or coated surfaces on the other side of the interior roof liner for example is not spared from being contaminated. It will be next to impossible to remove the particulate matter smoke leaves behind as it coats all materials and surfaces. Removing the foul smell will no doubt entail the car being majorly stripped down.

Do all you have done. Do Fabreeze. on headliner and carpets.
Take a saucer of vinegar and leave it on the dash over night.
Remember to tell your daughter if she uses the car you did it.
Why? I forgot and she was plenty pissed off to spill it on her.
The aggregate of all this helps. Clean the glass inside also.
My daughters car was fabric seats but we go it all out without the "ozone" treatments. I did use ozone spray too.
The disinfectant thru system and change airfilter is important.
