Default Transmission Temperature Ranges

Hi all,

2013 GS350 F Sport; 82,000 miles

Looking for some advice on transmission temperature ranges. The first screenshot is while in motion at 2,000 rpms in 6th gear. The second is while parked, and idling after driving about 25 miles.

My temps range from 170-180 F @ around 65 mph and 191 F @ around 80 mph, but then kept around 190ish while parked. I drove it extremely easy, Eco and Normal mode, fyi.

Is this range normal? I've seen some posts and info is a bit scattered. Can anyone help?

Perfect! Normal operating temperature of ATF will be in the range of 175° to 225° F. You're pretty much smack in the middle of that range!

Man, thank you so much. When I was creeping over 190F, I was getting all in my head. Even giving her some exercise in sport, 192F was it. I feel a lot better haha.

Typical operating temperature of your engine oil will be about the same at 100°C (212°F).

Tip: Don't expect either the ATF or the engine oil to easily or quickly reach typical operating temperature when driving in low ambient temperatures (e.g. sub-freezing). In fact, the typical operating temperature may never (repeat: never) be reached when driving in temperatures approaching zero - even for hundreds of miles or multiple hours - as the engine and transmission oil/fluid pans act the opposite of a heat sink by actually drawing heat away from its surface and negating the effects of the heat-producing mechanical source, which is quite the opposite of how a heat sink is used to absorb unwanted heat from an integrated circuit on a PCB.

Additionally, just because the engine coolant temperature gauge indicates a normal or typical temperature, this means absolutely nothing regarding the transmission fluid or engine oil temperature...
